Nourishing Goodies for Cold Winter Days

Updated: Feb 19, 2020

Martha Loving, chef at Peckham's Y-oga Store kitchen, produced the most wonderful meals and snacks at my last yoga retreat. She generously shared two of her most popular recipes, her Cardamom-Infused Granola and her Chocolate Tart (both vegan).

Try baking a batch of her granola one afternoon and you'll actually look forward to every morning following that! For more nourishment, visit Martha at Y-oga Store to taste her daily creations, where she also teaches yoga on Saturdays.

Cardamom-Infused Granola

200g oats

50g hazelnuts

25g almonds

80g maple syrup

80g coconut oil

1 tbsp cinnamon

1 tsp cardamom

Mix all ingredients together, pour onto lined baking tray + bake for 20-25 minutes at 180 degrees, stirring mix halfway. Leave to cool.

Chocolate Tart

Base -

200g almonds

200g dates

75g almond butter

whizz almonds first alone in a food processor until they are finely chopped. Add the rest of ingredients and whizz together until all combined in a smooth mix. Press into tart tin and put in the freezer.

Filling -

400g almond milk

1 tsp vanilla

20g ginger, grated (can swap for orange / sea salt etc)

2 tbsp cornflour, sieved

200g dark chocolate

Add all ingredients (apart from chocolate) into a pan and bring to boil slowly, whisking constantly to prevent lumps forming. When the mixture thickens, pour over chopped up chocolate and stir to melt the chocolate.

Pour on top of the base and leave overnight in the fridge to set, and until serving.

Bon appetit!
